Special Events

Capture the Bandera Grande

An expansion of Capture the Flag. The group is divided into two teams of different colors, each with two zones on the field. The field is divided into four zones, meaning, three lines running across the field (like lines on a football field: one at each of the the 25yd lines and one on the 50yd line) Each team has two large flags (sheets connected to a foam pool noodle). The flags are near the two back corners of their home zone (the end zones on the field). A circle is made around the flag. Inside the circle is the safe zone for the team trying to steal the the flag. When someone is caught in either of the two zones on the field that belong to the other team, they must go to that teams jail. The jail is set half way between the two flags and people in jail make a line stretching towards the field-line in front of them. When the line is tagged by one of their team members the person at the front of the the line may go free to their own zone and the tagger must go with them (they may not go to the flag safe-zone circles). You must capture both flags to win.

Medic

A form of dodgeball. The group is divided into two teams, and medics (2 or 3) are chosen on each side. Balls are placed on the center line, and at the signal, team members run from the back lines of their sides to grab balls and get members of the other team down by hitting them with a ball. When a player is hit, he must drop down to the ground and a medic must come touch him before rejoining the game. Head shots are not allowed; if a player catches a ball, the player who threw it is out; if a ball hits more than one person before being caught, the person who threw the ball is out. The first team to hit the medics on the other side wins.

Dinner theater banquet

Black and white theme. Table decorations include a black top hat, strings of white beads, and white gloves. General staff serve campers a three course meal while they are entertained by staff members performing various musical pieces. A separate banquet is held for the little kids during family camps. They are served pizza and get the watch a movie on a big screen.

Rodeo

Held at Horsemanship, events include apple bobbing, gunny sack races, riding relays, a race between machine (dirt bike) and horse, and tug of war. Both campers and staff are included in the activities. Popcorn can be served, and balloon animals made for the children.

Cirque du Soleil

A gymnastics, juggling, and unicycling performance by staff and campers. It includes snow cones and/or popcorn and a water balloon toss in a carnival or circus type setting.

Ski Show

A fantastic display of staff water skill—including biking off a jump into the lake, riding a shopping cart pulled by a boat, waterskiing and wakeboarding tricks, acrobatics, blobbing, and belly flops.

Punchinello Dramas – Adapted from the same title books and animated features by Max Lucado.

You Are Special

The Wemmicks spend their time distributing stickers based on the good and bad actions of other Wemmicks. Their entire worth is defined by the amount of gold star stickers they have. Punchinello’s world is changed when he meets the woodcarver, Eli, who says that he is special because of who he is, not what he does.

You Are Mine

The Wemmicks become obsessed with collecting boxes and balls and judge each other based on how much they have. After losing all that is important to him in the pursuit of boxes and balls, Punchinello finds acceptance and forgiveness from Eli, who tells him that he is special because of who he is, not what he has.

If Only I Had a Green Nose

The latest Wemmick trend is to have a painted green nose and soon the Wemmicks judge each other based on their nose color. Punchinello finds that following trends is tedious and tiresome. Eli reminds him that each Wemmick was made uniquely and specially and that true happiness comes when you become who you were meant to be.

We would also ask that you state that your production is “An Adaptation Of” in your attribution line.
