Favorite Text: Genesis 15. "It talks about God coming down and making a covenant with Abraham. It doesn't seem like much but when you look at the great significance of it, it's quite amazing. Back in the day people who wanted to make a covenant would cut a sacrifice into pieces and walk between them to make the covenant with each other. Now if one nation was greater then only the lesser nation had to walk between the sacrifice but here in this verse God is the one who walked between it. That's just good imagery right there."

Adam Newbold
Boys Counselor

Year: Sophomore
Major/Minor: Industrial Design/Marketing
Age: 20
Favorite Pastime: Spending quality time with friends; traveling with friends and family on road trips and to different countries; music—I play violin, sing, tinker on the piano, and also play steel drums; playing volleyball; writing letters—I think writing is a lost art... especially handwritten letters; baking & cooking—I love to bake desserts and cook food for friends; doing graphic design for WWU and for side projects; working with my youth group kids back home; and, of course, working as a boys' counselor at Camp MiVoden!
Favorite Text: One of my favorites comes from Romans 5, verses 3 and 4: "We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us—they help us learn to endure. And endurance develops strength of character in us, and character strengthens our confident expectation of salvation" (NLT). It is hard to remember that problems and trials are good for us sometimes—they build us up and strengthen our character. We're never alone, either; Jesus is with us the entire time—we just may not always be looking for Him.
