UCC Men's Summit

The Annual UCC Men's Summit was held February 18-20, 2011. This weekend is a great time for men of the Upper Columbia Conference to come together to be encouraged and empowered to deal with the things in their lives that may be weighing them down. The weekend included a keynote speaker, and several breakout session options on Sabbath afternoon.

The keynote speaker this year was Herb Montgomery who has used to be part of the Lightbearers Ministry and now with his wife have their own minitry called "Renewed Heart Ministries". Herb shared some of his life story with the men on Friday night and continued the weekend with challenging the men to evaluate their relationships with God and their families.

The breakout sessions on Sabbath afternoon allowed the men to select an area that pertained to an interest of theirs. For example there was a session for any Veterans to come together to share their heart aches and how God has been leading in their lives. There was another session entitled "How to be a Dad: (You already know how to become a father)", the presenter spoke about how to be a model of the traits you wish for your children to have.

It was a very good weekend which closed on Sunday morning with a time for the men to come together and pray over their fellow men. There were several men who were suffering with things in their lives, and Wayne Hicks had the men gather around and lay hands upon those they were praying for. It was a very powerful time for those being prayed for and for everyone else in the room as well.

If you haven't ever attended one of the UCC Men's Summit weekends I would strongly encourage you to do so. They are a great place to be uplifted through the keynote speaker, or through prayer from your fellow men and networking with other Christian men in the area. We look forward to seeing you here next year.
